I’m moving. I need to get rid of some stuff. This month’s giveaway has some extra special prizes, all music related and featuring some of my piano-playing and songwriting heroes.

First on the list is Fess Up, a two-DVD package featuring the once and forever king of New Orleans piano players, Henry Byrd, better known as Professor Longhair. Package includes video interviews with Longhair, photos, essays and a copy of the 1982 documentary Piano Players Rarely Ever Play Together, in which piano players Professor Longhair, “Tuts” Washington and Allen Toussaint compare notes and play together.

Next we have Leon Russell: The Master of Space and Time’s Journey through Rock & Roll History by Bill Janovitz, the most recent and most complete biography of the late Wrecking Crew member, first-call sideman, hit songwriter and rock star.

And last, but certainly not least, is Elvis Costello’s 2015 memoir Unfaithful Music & Disappearing Ink

Three winners will be chosen in order. First place winner will get first choice of prizes. Runner ups will get choice of what remains.
